About my Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics, 3D and 2D animation and visual effects are my passion. After I gained experience at companies like Onesize and Talpa (Dutch television) I now bring this experience into practice with my own studio. On this website you can find the motion graphic projects I have done in the past. And if you are curious about what I'm up to you can check my blog.
What do I do
I create things that come off the screen. Things that will attract attention through motion and sound, giving the viewer a unique experience. In the industry this is called; motion graphics. Motion graphics are graphics that use video and/or animation technology to create the illusion of motion or a transforming appearance. These motion graphics are usually combined with audio for use in multimedia projects.
The motion graphic designs I make can be;
- 2D - ‘flat' animation made out of 2D objects
- 2.5D - flat 2D planes placed in a 3D space
- 3D - three dimensional objects in a three dimensional space
These different types of animation can also be combined together. Besides combining these techniques with each other I also often combine them with video. To make the design even more colorful, vibrant and beautiful or even dark and mysterious, I apply a color grading and post fx over the finished product. This will bring out the mood even more. And to really finish it off, an extra dimension is added: sound. SoundFX and music intensify the experience for the viewer even more.
What can I do for you
If you want your product or service to get noticed I will help you to make sure it does. Instead of using only the usual channels like print media and websites I provide a channel in which you can tell a lot in a short time or even explain something you cant do in words. Or even better; sometimes you don't want to tell something, you just want graphic violence bursting out of the screen leaving the viewer all baffled and impressed. Either way, I can help you out.
In the term of products I deliver, you can think of TV-commercials, leaders, bumpers, interstitials, virals, visual effects, infomercials, etc. And an upcoming market is the use of webmovies. Because nowadays almost everyone of your target audience has got a broadband connection it is possible to stream large movies. Imagine how professional your website would look with a movie on the homepage. Your visitors can see there has gone a lot of work and attention into your site. It will dramatically improve the professional impression it leaves behind.

How I became a motion graphics addict
I never knew what I wanted to be professionally. That's probably why I actually have a bachelor degree of Information and Communication Technology. This is something which clearly isn't my thing. During this study though I discovered what I do like. We had some lessons in coding websites and this is where I discovered I had a great joy in creating the design for the webpages. This opened up my eyes to the world of graphic design.
After I graduated I started a new education in Communication and Multimedia Design. During the 3,5 years there, my focus shifted from webdesign to motion design. In my second year I created the complete identity for the school's own TV channel including the leaders and bumpers. This was my first contact with After Effects. After this I wanted more. So when it was time for my internship I managed to get a position at a Dutch television station. I got to work on the promo and design department there. It was here where I was introduced into the world of Cinema 4D. I still can remember the kick I got out of seeing my own work on TV.
When my internship was finished I found an interesting project to work on for a local TV-station. Together with Giso Spijkerman I created a breakdancing windmill. The movie got quite some exposure and was featured on Motionographer on the (at that time) brand new student section. The movie was even nominated for the Dutch Film Festival and ended up in the last three contestants out of hundreds.
When I was ready for my graduation I couldn't believe my luck that I was accepted to do this at Onesize; one of the most leading motion design studios in the world. I had a great time over there and learned a lot about esthetics and got a very good insight in the creative process in this branch of work. And best of all, I made some new friends.
Now I was graduated I could add another bachelor degree to my personal record; Bachelor of Multimedia
In my quest to get better in my job I started my own studio. Here is where I have the complete freedom to shape a project from scratch to the finished product. With every new assignment I try to push the envelope even further than the last one. This ambition enables me to become better in my work every day.
