Streaming video hoster, Streamzilla, asked me to make a opening movie for their new website. The name Streamzilla is obviously derived from Godzilla. And it was this creature what they wanted to have brutalizing their homepage.
After some research into all shapes and sizes Godzilla has been, I asked Jasper Hesseling from Mayonaisse to make to base mesh for the Godzilla head and neck.
After the head was modelled I imported it into a sculpting program to give it very high detail so I could come very close with the camera.
When the sculpting was done, the model got rigged with the help of Jasper. I then could animate the creature in Cinema 4D and bring it into After Effects for color grading and post fx.
The reason for the high detail is that we needed to get very close to the eye of the Streamzilla monster. So that we could see all the, ultra fast streaming, imagery in the reflection of its eye.
To top it off the animation needed a high dynamic cinema like sound. For this I called in the help of Gavin Little of Echolab. He did an outstanding job of making the creature sound alive.
